Deans House
Deans House, Bishopbriggs
The client’s desire for additional living and bedroom space, to an existing 20 year old CALA-built house, led Coogan Architects to propose a radical transformation of the house, both internally and externally.
At ground floor level, a tight and gloomy hallway has been opened up with a new entrance and feature staircase, all dramatically top-lit from above by way of floor voids and rooflights.
A new open plan kitchen, dining and living space has been created to the rear, creating a social heart to this family house. Overlooking the garden by way of floor to ceiling windows and bi-fold doors, there is an intentional blurring of the dividing line between indoor and outdoor space.
The rear extension is clad in blue-grey zinc with warm timber cladding and a light-weight green sedum mat roof.
